COMM-4436EL – Communication Theory for Managers

This course is designed to give a greater understanding of the role of communication in a variety of organizations. More specifically, the course deals with the practical implications for personnel management – the use of organizational communication theory and skills in such areas as recruitment and selection, interviewing, organizational development, and human relations in the work situation. Topics include: organization as a communication system, theory of organization, importance of interpersonal skills, communication with and without words, interpersonal perception and the communication process, sources of interpersonal misunderstanding, and counselling.
