COMM-4147EL – Information Systems

Computer-based information systems are now recognized as an important resource in organizations. Just as any resource must be managed well, the information resource must be planned and controlled effectively. This course covers the relationship of the management process to information needs, and the effective application of computer-based information systems in meeting these needs. Topics include: computer systems; transaction processing; decision support systems; file structures and database; systems flowcharting; systems analysis and design; management of information systems. PREREQ: COSC or data processing course & COMM 2015. (cst 3) cr 3
