CLAS-4317EL – Topics in Latin Poetry

This course studies the major Latin poets of the Golden Age of Rome, with a view to exploring themes auch as love, politics, philosophy, religion, and literary criticism. Selections from authors such as Catullus, Horace, Virgil, and Ovid will be read in translation and placed within the appropriate literary and historical context. PREREQ: one of CLAS 1007, 2057, 3156 or the permission of the instructor. (lec/sem 3) cr 3.
