CLAS-3226EL – Greek and Roman Tragedy

This course is a study of Greek and Roman tragedy in English translation, including such authors as Aeschylus, Sophocies, Euripides, and Seneca. Ancient tragedy is examined in its societal, literary, political, and historical contexts. PREREQ: THEA 1115 or 6 CLAS credits (although some background in mythology is an asset) or permission of the department. (lec 3) cr 3. Students may not retain credit for CLAS 3226 and CLAS 3125.
