SOCI-3246EL – Workplace Rights Advocacy

This course provides a detailed examination of workplace rights and labour advocacy from a legal, ethical and political perspective. Students will be introduced to the evolution of labour advocacy, theories of advocacy and the relevant legislative framework. The context of labour advocacy will be linked to the developmnet of skills necessary to act as an advocate in the workplace. PREREQ: SOCI 1015 or LBST 1006/1007 or permission of the Department Chair or designate. (lec 3) cr 3. Crosslisted with LBST 3246. Students may not retain credit for SOCI/LBST 3246 and SOCI/LBST 2256.
