PHYS-3416EL – Introductory Quantum Mechanics

The evidence of quantization in physical systems and the physical basis of quantum mechanics are discussed, as well as the Schrödinger formulation with applications in one dimension and extensions to three dimensions. Other topics include particle scattering, barrier penetration and elementary treatment of angular momentum and spin of quantum systems with applications to many electron atoms. PREREQ: PHYS 2406/7 & 2016 or dept.’s permission. (lec 3) cr 3
