In this course, the following topics will be covered: the Special Theory of Relativity, early quantum concepts, the Thompson and Rutherford atomic models, the Bohr Model of the hydrogen atom, the wave nature of matter, and solutions of the Schrödinger equation for the infinite and finite square well, and for the harmonic oscillator. PREREQ: PHYS 1006/1007 or PHYS 1206/1207 or equivalent, and MATH 1036 or equivalent. (lec 3) cr 3
