PHIL-3217EL – Philosophy of Nature and Environment

This course examines the concepts of nature and the environment from a range of philosophical perspectives. Themes may include: social, cultural, ethical, and political constructions of nature and the environment; history of the concept of nature; ecocriticism; human/other-than-human/posthuman nature; animal studies; biotechnology; natureal and urban environments; and environmental aesthetics, space, and architecture.
