Examines the roles and responsibilities of the primary healthcare nurse practitioner in enhancing client health and health services. Topics include: historical development, relationships with clients, legal and ethical considerations, scope of practice, relationships with other healthcare providers, functioning in interdisciplinary teams, primary healthcare policy formulation, political strategies and role transformation and care of self. Total of 39 hours of lectures and field experience. Restricted to NP students. cr 3
