MUSC-3246EL – Performance Literature

This course examines the performance literature of a particular medium, either piano, voice, woodwind, brass, string, or percussion. The emphasis will be given to the performance literature of various important composers of a medium, discussing styles, forms and interpretations of their works chronologically in a historical context. Students will acquire a broad awareness of a particular repertory. The medium of the performance literature will vary, depending on the instructor’s expertise in a given performance area. PREREQ: Music literacy and the permission of instructor. (lec 3) cr 3. Students may not retain credit for both MUSC 3246 and MUSC 3240.
