Designed as an elective for students in all disciplines, this course examines perceptions of aging held by the elderly, family, health professionals and community; physical and psychosocial changes; health, health promotion and maintenance, and healthcare policy in relation to quality of life. Students have contact with healthy elderly persons in the community. Class time includes lectures, the use of case studies and student presentations. In seminars, the multidisciplinary group, from its diverse experiences, identifies the issues arising from the interplay between the elderly and society at large.
