GEOG-4057EL – Advanced Topics in Geographic Information Systems (GIS) and Spatial Analysis

This course explores the theory, characteristics, and applied uses of geographic information systems (GIS). Topics include approaches to data retrieval, representing vector and raster relationships, vector and raster manipulation and analysis, and methods of spatial interpolation, employing spatial statistics ( such as point pattern analyses and spatial autocorreleation) in the GIS environment. In addition to lectures, considerable time will be spent in the lab environment to gain experience with GIS software packages. PREREQ: GEOG 3056 or permission of the instructor.
