GEOG-3056EL – Topics in Geographic Information Systems Application

The course emphasizes the application of geographic information systems (GIS). It focuses on how different geographic problems can be solved within the GIS environment and also on how evaluating the appropriateness of such procedures. Three main area of GIS are examined: human-environment interactions; urban planning/urban issues; and geodemographic analysis and market research. The course also emphasizes lab exercises using multiple GIS software packages. PREREQ: STAT 2126 or GEOG 2017 or permission of the instructor. (lec/lab 3) cr 3.
