ENGR-3226EL – Hydrometallurgy

This course covers leaching of metals, oxides and sulphides and the kinetics of leaching processes, chemical and kinetic studies of purification of leach solutions and the recovery of the contained values by crystallization, absorption, ionic precipitation, ion exchange and solvent extraction, reduction of metal bearing solutions by cementation, gaseous reduction, and electrolysis, electro refining/electroplating, and miscellaneous low temperature refining techniques. A unit process approach is adopted. PREREQ: ENGR 2106, 2227 and 2276. (lec 3, lab 3) cr 3.
